Wife, writer, tinkerer, grower of food. I'm happiest outside our rambling farmhouse with a basket looped on my arm, picking dinner from the garden. That's joy right there. Please follow along; I'm so glad you're here!
Hi Becky! Those trellises were inspired by plans in The Four Season Harvest, by Eliot Coleman. Terrific book. They're basically just 2x2 lumber: the uprights are about 6 1/2 feet, cut at an angle and pounded into the ground. The horizontal pieces are left uncut, eight feet long. I drilled a hole into the top of each upright, and into the end of each horizontal, and I use a big nail, dropped into the hole, to hold each end together. For the pea trellises in the picture, I "weave" the horizontal piece through some nylon trellis netting as I put it in place. Hope this helps! The book really has some amazing plans and ideas; I recommend it!
