Well. It's officially past Thanksgiving, which means it is serious crunch time for those who make their own Christmas presents, like me. Yesterday, I rummaged through my scraps and made these birds. I can't take credit for the pattern, or the idea, it's found right
here. I thought it was too beautiful and magical (lifelike, almost) to pass up, and I've never made a mobile before.

And since Pete and Diesel got the glory of appearing on my blog, I thought I'd let our other critters into the limelight (ha, ha). In the foreground is Ophelia, and (yawning) is Olive. They enjoy warm quilts, and sunny days when their owners are thoughtful enough to open the blinds.

The leedle bordies are cute. Are they suspended on string to form a mobile?

These birds will, in fact, form a mobile. Today I foraged for appropriate sticks, tomorrow I purchase the necessary fishing line. Thanks for the dickie bird, colorful and informative.
I don't know if you'll even see this but I had to comment. I found your blog via the comments on Meg of the Sew Liberated blog post about her birds....I just made a bunch of these guys yesterday and was looking into the best way to display them in my daughter's room. Anyhow, the reason I had to post is I always thought if I ever had a cat I'd like to name it Diesel....and you have!
Your bird mobile turned out so nice BTW!
Hi Rebecca-- Thanks for stopping by! I hope you find some delight here.
Unfortunately, our Diesel is not a cat. He's a Boston terrier. I think it'd make a great name for a cat, though. Enjoy!
