The couch is done. All the staples have been pulled, all the fabric has been salvaged and pressed and traced and cut... and carefully, carefully stretched and wrapped and re-attached.
The costs:
Fabric, 9 1/2 yards linen, $30.
Staples, band-aids (for me, not the couch), thread, ~$5
I celebrated my victory with several protracted happy dances, half a bottle of wine, and repeated high-fives with my husband. I feel invincible. I walk with the svelte over-confidence (slightly inflated ego) of one who feels she could master anything.
If you've been reading this blog for any unreasonable amount of time, you know: this is what I do. I get The Project in my head, I get obsessed. I see a new skill to be learned, new insights to be gained, and... in a very Zen-like way, I want to fly at it Jackie Chan style, and take it down.

Ha, ha! I had a friend point out that her great-aunt used to do upholstery as a business, intimating maybe that's something I could do... and I promptly told her she was crazy. :)

Congrats!! Are you going to put feet on it?? I always thought couches looked fancier with some feet (the 2 inch or so wood ones...not little slider nubs!)

I'm Sorry, Kristina,I didn't mean to make it sound easy, I know you worked long and hard on this project, but you just began in January, and at my age, especially, a couple months seems very "quick!"
