1. It's important, though not necessary, to see something grand for the first time. (Letchworth State Park. Amazing.)
2. After the grandeur has been noted and appreciated, there should be time to step back and notice the little things.
3. Wildflowers are a requirement, and likewise good light for picture-taking. There's something glamorous about this one, don't you think?
4. Roadside treasure, boxes and barrels of goodies to rifle through, bags of clothes to be carried off for a song, yes, this is a very important feature of a great weekend, indeed.
5. And summer weekends just aren't complete without garden time. Specifically, garden time for Pete.

That park looks incredible! I have been noticing that the kitties in my 'hood have been hiding under leaves & bushes. I guess it's a summer sort of thing. Wonder why I never noticed it before!
I love that photo with the caterpillar. So wonderful...
Thanks for making me smile with this post :-)

That looks like such a wonderful weekend!
I want one too.
All those beautiful photos, and my crowning through was "wow, no bugholes in the garden plants!" :)
Isn't Letchworth amazing?? It was about a 15 minute drive from my college (Geneseo), so we spent many weekends there too!
Next time you swing up that way you will have to let me know... there are tons of great things to do around the Geneseo area!
Great post and I really love the photo of the flower and the cat looking up. That last one looks like he is having a super laugh at someone's expense. :)
Love the photo of the caterpillar. Very cool :)
Thanks guys!
Wildrun-- There are some holes; fortunately Pete was considerate enough to arrange himself in a spot where there were none.
Christy-- actually, in that last photo Pete was hacking on the grass he insists on chewing, but pretending he's laughing is a much better idea. :)
Got to ask - is Pete a Russian Blue? He reminds me of one of my cats years ago (so beautiful).
Dotty-- Pete is an official 100% Upstate New York barn cat. I have no idea where he got that beautiful color from-- cat genetics aren't exactly my forte-- but he is flattered by the interest!
Pete is so very beautiful! and you've so perfectly captured his many faces. love it!
Love the mayapple picture! I just love wildflowers and mayapples in particular. So jealous of the kitty. I'm very allergic. :(
