April showers, a day late

The evening started off nicely enough. It was after work on a Friday. The clouds, hovering and gloomy all day, had finally departed. The birds were singing, quiet little flowers were opening. Lots of thankful people were taking to the woods.

And then: a gusty deluge swept in out of nowhere. One minute, the woods were tranquil and bright; the next, we were cowering against the side of an oak, bracing as we were buffeted by torrent after torrent of horizontal rain. Ha ha, the joke was on us. We had not for one instant seen that coming.

Soaked and shivering, we captured the moment:

It went as quickly and as quietly as it had come, and the woods returned to peace.

I tell you, a shower and hot pizza never felt so good in my life. Sometimes, it takes a spring cloudburst to open your eyes to the sweet things in life.

Don't we look like a couple of drowned rats? Glad you enjoyed it.

I love that feeling, too. And where are you getting good tomatoes this early? Ours all taste like water right now...

Melissa-- Those are from Price Chopper. They're not great, but are much improved after roasting on top of a pizza for a few minutes.
